Mallard Point & Rolling Oaks Residents

Contractors are scheduled to be on-site starting tomorrow (Thursday, February 25) to perform two soil borings in the Mallard Point subdivision. These borings, to a depth of approximately 40’, will provide the Technical Committee (comprised of engineers representing Kane County, the Rob Roy Drainage District and the Village) additional information and provide additional ability to monitor groundwater conditions. By completing these borings the Committee will be able to more definitively answer the following questions.

  1. 1.      What are ground conditions below the 15’ level and do they trap or transport groundwater?
  2. 2.      Do soils at this depth contribute to a ground water surcharge and if so at what depth does this occur?
  3. 3.      If dewatering is installed are the soils conducive to the transport of groundwater to indicate a noticeable drop in the surrounding areas?

One location is near the lift station on Brookhaven Circle and the other is 60’ north of the first location. Both locations have been staked with lath and pink ribbon. The north boring will be retrofitted to serve as a monitoring well. This work is purely investigative and does not include dewatering.
